Love Is Blind Broadcast

Have you been wondering how our blind date went on Tuesday? Well, here are the pictures and the audio will be broadcast tonight at 630. Tune to WVCW, hosted by me: Claire!

A big thanks to Aramark Chili’s for setting us up and the HUMS 291 Radio Class for planning the event. If you are interested in making things happen in Radio contact Jon Carpenter at johnny.carp@gmail.com to sign up for the class. Spots still open for this semester.

RVA Tumblr

WVCW got a mention on RVA News Tumblr! Check it out, it’s a crazy picture of Joel, your go to guy for programming. We will be out on the VCU compass again next month and our Valentine’s Day Event will air this Thursday 2/16 at 6:30pm. It will also be posted for podcast download. Maybe next year you could win Radio Love (cyberpunk).

Constance Sisk does Caetano Veloso

Local cello player and Girls Rock Coordinator Constance Sisk stopped by the studio this week to play for Dirty Dog Juice Gang. Although Sisk generally plays in bands (Nick Coward & the Last Battle, Rattlemouth) she occasionally performs solo armed with her electric cello, loop pedal, and fx stop boxes.

We particularly enjoyed her version of Caetano Veloso’s Maria Bethania and have it for you here. Full episode will be posted shortly so Come Back!!

Love Is Blind — Results

If you’ve been curious about the results from our Love is Blind event, check out this audio recording: never gonna give you up Jacob. That’s Jacob McFadden, of Potboiler fame, and the former host of The Breakdown giving a special performance to our male winner.

The blind date will be held next Tuesday, Valentine’s Day in the studio. We will record it live and broadcast it Thursday February 16th at 6pm.

Love Is Blind

Head over to Facebook and check out Love Is Blind, the next WVCW event!

One student will be matched up with another, and WVCW will pay for your first date together on Valentine’s Day! The date will take place in the sexy student radio station. The WVCW staff will be in the compass on Tuesday, February 7th from 12pm to 2pm, where you will fill out your compatibility survey for a chance at love at first sight!

The Diamond Center — Claws & Flaws

As much as I would like to take credit for this, I can only thank Brandi (The Diamond Center) for releasing Claws & Flaws on bandcamp.com. This is the very first Diamond Center release ever. We were joking around on the last episode of DIrty Dog Juice Gang that this record is now impossible to find in physical copy. I will still pay premium for a copy if anyone out there has one. But for now, take the time to listen and download for just $5.
