On-Air Time: Thursdays 3:00pm – 4:00pm
Hosts: Emilyn Teh and Ian Cardenas
About the host:

Emilyn Teh:
My name is Emilyn Teh She-Minn and I am an international student from Penang, a small island in Malaysia. I am currently studying in the United States in Virginia Commonwealth University and am doing a double major in Mass Communication and Biology as I am torn between my love for the media and my love for science. In the past semester I was put on the Dean’s list for my GPA of 4.0 and was accepted into the Honors College. Previously, I completed my high school education in St. George’s Girls’ School and moved on to do South Australian Matriculation, a Pre-University program in Disted College. I graduated with a TER score of 95.70 and a merit award from the Lord Mayor of Adelaide for English as a Second Language. I was later selected to be the SAM ambassador for Disted College, Penang. Here at VCU, I am involved with VCU’s independent radio station WVCW under the Student Media Center. Other than that, I am also a delegate in the VCU Student Government Association and am on the VCU Judicial Board. I am a member of the Pre-Law society. I am also part of VCU Honors College and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. I believe that the skills that I learn from participating in these various activities will be useful when I step into the real world to pursue my career. It is my dream to be a broadcast journalist someday. I like to stay positive and motivated because I believe that life is what we make of it and there are only good things that lie ahead. I enjoy music very much, I play badminton, I play the Er Hu (chinese violin) and I like to go shopping in my free time.

Ian Cardenas:
What’s up everybody? My name is Ian Cardenas and I am a co-host, along with Emilyn Teh, on the radio show Euphoria. Being a Political Science Major as well as a big fan of listening to music and making a fool of myself, I decided wholeheartedly to become a radio personality. After participating as a special guest on Emilyn’s former show “Dream With Emilyn”, I realized how fun and exciting her job was and how much I wanted to do the same thing someday. Using skills I learned from being the school bully in middle school (not really), I convinced Emilyn to allow me to participate on her radio show as a co-host. Seeing my natural ability to entertain millions, Emilyn agreed to the opportunity and allowed me to serve on her show. To say the least, I was ecstatic.
Besides spending time on my studies and being a comedian, I also do a lot of work for the VCU Student Government Association. I have taken a number of leadership positions for many different committees, including the Vice-Chairman of the MPC SGA Senate, the Vice-Chairman of the Appointments Committee, and the Creator and Chairman of the Hamasaki Committee. Throughout my tenure in the organization I have helped to make much change to the system for the better here at VCU. On top of this, I have been Vice President of the Pre-Law Society at VCU, Historian for the Lambda Chi Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha, and have been a member of numerous different clubs here at VCU, including Invisible Children and Young Americans for Liberty. On the side I also make movies with my production company “High Sentence Productions”, make music with my band “I for an I”, and am currently training for my second triathlon. My life is very cool but also very busy. I’m a workaholic. I admit it. The end.

Season 2
Dream with Emilyn premiered Monday (January 31, 2011). In my efforts to keep things fresh on the show, I decided to welcome a new co-host to the show, Ian Cardenas. Together, we reinvented the show and named it Euphoria. Euphoria is split into two 30-minute segments- Dream with Emilyn and The VENT. Dream with Emilyn will feature your favorite hits of today, like, the Rhythm, Blues and Pop genre. There will be a mixture of soothing ballads and upbeat songs to put you in a good mood to kick start your day. Dream with Emilyn also carries on with the Emilyn’s Quote of the Week tradition from the original show. As always, I will be giving you a quote for the week from various authors and writers that I personally find inspirational, to help motivate you. I wish to give those tuning in a new and positive perspective to help you stay happy in your everyday lives. Also, as the title of the show suggests, I am encouraging listeners to dream and imagine because I believe that success is self managed and the way to making dreams come true is dreaming, believing and anticipating. I hope to play a role, even if it’s a small one, in motivating you and making a difference in your lives. The show is for those tuning in to relax, enjoy the music and build a positive outlook on life! Please ‘browse’ the Dream with Emilyn page on facebook or follow me on twitter which is created specially for you to keep you updated on the show and for your feedback. Do not worry if you have missed the show, it will be podcasted on this page and will be made available after each show. Please do tune in and just maybe you’ll learn something new about yourself and about life.

The VENT is a radio show created by me. It is a thirty minute segment in the show Euphoria and is presented after the segment of the show Dream With Emilyn. The purpose of the show is pretty self-explanatory if you know what VENT stands for. VENT is an acronym for Visitors, Events, News, and Tunes. On the show I have special guests, I announce local events going on, discuss news from around the world, and I play music of my choosing and liking. I have pretty good taste so it works out well. Don’t forget to tune in for a listen at 3:00pm on Thursdays! Thanks.
