We’re psyched about another SubPop band this week, Beach House. Originally from Baltimore and veterans of Dan Deacon’s debauchery, Beach House has released their fourth full length, Bloom. They’ll be playing a few more southern dates this week and  next before they head to Europe. So for Richmonders, check them out online…lame, but our only [...]

This week’s featured new music is Father John Misty, Fear Fun. Father John Misty is the solo project from Josh Tillman, former Fleet Foxes drummer. Check him out on YouTube with “Nancy From Now On”

Yesterday March 21, SubPop darlings The Head and the Heart played a short set at Obama campaign headquarters downtown. The group donated their time before a show at The National to support a candidate they truly believe in. Local band Black Girls opened for the group at The National and The Head and the Heart [...]

February has been an exciting month at VCU, first Valentine’s Day, then Free Pancakes, and then Leap Day. We’re reminding you how lucky you were on Valentine’s Day to not have been on this blind date. We hosted a blind date in cooperation with Shafer for two lucky student contest winners. The date was a disaster [...]

On-Air Time: Tuesdays 6:00-7:00pm

Host: Jacob McFadden, Cory Alexander & Tim Suddeth

About the Hosts:

Jacob “Mouth” McFadden, a 22 year old mass communications major, is a socialite in his East-Coast-big-time college. He is the Talk Director for WVCW and the Advertising Manager for VCU’s independent award winning newspaper, The Commonwealth Times. He is also the executive producer/founder of the uncensored sketch comedy podcast Potboiler and a lackluster amateur stand-up comedian. Jacob started theBreakdown in Spring of 2010 with his close friend, Matt Schmidt, and then from Fall 2010-Spring 2011 with future wife Trista Dandrea. Jacob appeared on the Newdick stage as part of One-Act-A-Mania in 2009, but hated it. In 2011, he did script writing and story concepts for Video Game Theatre at VCU. He hated that too.

He pretty much hates everything.

Cory “Straight Jacket” Alexander is coming at you from an estranged relationship with the suburban state and making a movement to grayer pastures as a World Cinema major, contributing writing for the Commonwealth Times, webmaster,  student media inhabitant and group snob. This relative youngster is planning to graduate eventually! with a breadth of worldly knowledge that will come in handy at some point in time… Cory can also be heard on The Mainstream, a show about the School of the Arts here at VCU.

Tim “Tower” Suddeth is a 19 year-old Exercise Science major with a minor in Shenanigans.  He enjoys the beach, more specifically his home of Virginia Beach, and running around doing “whatever.” Tim acted in Video Game Theatre and even helped out with some of the writing! You can usually find him with one or more of his new family members, that he gained from VGT. A rousing battle with the Rancor is always a fun activity that follows a good bit of “snitching” at Quidditch, which Tim tries to get in at least twice a week! Tim is also the host of WVCW’s G33k 5peak, a show for a L33t speaker in all of us.
