To the budget, he acknowledged that because we’re faced with a $42 million dollar shortfall in appropriations, as well as have the lowest percentage of student financial aid available amongst Virginia public institutions, the only way out is to raise tuition rates as well as fund-raise outside of the university.

In turn, he also hopes to restore many more courses, and widen the availability of courses still offered. He also sees the opportunity for university technology departments to grow significantly in the services they provide, while at the same time increasing facilities construction and renovation only as needed.
