2010 Suntrust Richmond Marathon

The Suntrust Richmond Marathon, The McDonald’s Half Marathon and the HCA Virginia 8K will be happening this Saturday and WVCW will be there, getting a full rundown of the events, the fun and excitement and the finish of “America’s Friendliest Marathon.”

Latest News From 2010 Suntrust Richmond Marathon

  • Another Year, Another Entry Record Broken: The SunTrust Richmond Marathon, which will celebrate its 33rd runninghas broken its all-time event registration record of 15,723 set for last year’s event. With walk-up registration still available at the Health & Fitness Expo, entry numbers for the SunTrust Richmond Marathon, McDonald’s Half Marathon, and HCA Virginia 8k are expected to climb over 16,000. This marks the 11th time in 12 years that the total event entry record has been set. Among these people, there are runners from 47 different states & 16 different countries!
  • Listen To Jackie Holt From Sports Backers of Richmond In Studio With Michael Campbell: Jackie Holt was a guest on the WVCW Newsroom @ Noon this past Tuesday. She came in to talk about the big news going on for the 2010 Suntrust Richmond Marathon. Listen to the audio from the interview here on WVCW.
  • Official Starters Named for the This Weekend’s Events: The official starters have been named for each event of the Suntrust Richmond Marathon. Click the link, right here,  to find out who will be starting each of the events this Saturday.
  • Party Zones Return for Another Year: There are three Suntrust/NBC12 party zones on the marathon course and one party zone on the half-marathon course. Check out the Sports Backers website for the location of these Party Zones. With these party zones, there are 28 volunteer bands along the route this year. And Sports Backers is doing something different this year, the Richmond Times Dispatch Community Cheer Challenge. They are reimbursing people up to $250 to throw a party  along the route with prizes for the best parties!
  • Donate Life named the official event charity: They have a team of about 60 people (both transplant recipients and donors) that are running and volunteering this Saturday! They are looking to recruit people to sign up to be an organ donor.
