Your Ideas
Now
Mark Turner will be your new music director (music@wvcw.org). Brice Maddox is the Hip Hop Director (hiphop@wvcw.org), Eric Wolinsky is the RPM director (rpm@wvcw.org), and Jereme Yoho is the Loud Rock Director (metal@wvcw.org).
Baylen is still Programming Director (programming@wvcw.org). Tom Jones is the new Promotions Manager (promotions@wvcw.org). Josh Barnhill is the Production Director (production@wvcw.org).
So what does this all mean?
Well if you’re interested in getting your hands on any music that’s coming out soon talk to Mark. If you have a band/know of a band/toured with a band/sold beer to a band that would like to play a show contact Tom Jones. Also contact Tom Jones if you’re interested in promoting the station (designing, printing and distributing stuff is included) or you have any events that you think the station should be involved in.
If you’re new or interested in getting involved at the station Baylen takes care of training. Josh is in charge of the Production room, all underwriting production and any in studio content. Any phone ins, interviews, or in studio performances/interviews should go through him. Josh will also be making some station IDs if you want to help out with that.
Fall
We now have a server is set up to broadcast to itunes, winamp, and windows media player (it will be a .spd file). With that comes a new emphasis on promoting and producing the best product possible for our listening audience.
Along those lines, we have set up connections with The National and The Czar for covering and giving away tickets to these shows.
Since we want to unify the station more we want our DJs to start playing music from the station’s computer. Our music director will ensure that you have the newest music possible (usually stuff that isn’t even on store shelves yet). New music meetings will start shortly to make sure new music is discussed thoroughly with the staff.
Future
For the future we want to let the entirety of VCU know that we exist.
First, the SMC has put together a logo system to integrate all the different types of media offered through the SMC.
Second, this website. It will be kept up to date. It will have what’s recently been played and what’s currently playing. It will have details on shows and upcoming events. It will be your one stop shop as far as what’s going on here. As well as http://www.wvcw.org/music, which will cover the newest music we get in at the station.
Finally, a mass com class will be tackling a poster campaign for the station. They are going to really look into what makes the station great and how to let everyone know about it in a poster campaign.
