U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Gleason threw out Trump’s executive order that overturned the bans that would have comprised a key part of Obama’s environmental legacy. President Donald Trump exceeded his authority when he reversed bans on offshore drilling in the Arctic Ocean and in canyons of the Atlantic Ocean, Gleason said in a ruling restoring the restrictions. Presidents have the power under a federal law to remove certain lands from development but cannot revoke those removals, Gleason said.

Vanessa Tyson and Meredith Watson, the two women who have accused Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax of sexual assault, have interviews with CBS News will air today and tomorrow. In response, Fairfax issued a news release saying he had hired a former FBI polygraph expert to administer a polygraph to him and it showed that Fairfax was being truthful when he said his sexual contact with both women was consensual.

The man accused of killing a woman who got into his car thinking it was her Uber ride had activated the child locks in his backseat so the doors could only be opened from the outside, police in South Carolina say. A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged in the death of 21-year-old Samantha Josephson, a University of South Carolina student from Robbinsville, New Jersey.
