Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic of the band Queen, took home the most 2019 Oscars last night. The film earned Best Actor in a Leading Role with Rami Malek, Best Film Editing, Sound Mixing, and Sound Editing. Black Panther is right behind with three wins in Original Music Score, Costume Design, and Production Design.

Virginia lawmakers came to a compromise which creates a 16-member redistricting commission to redraw the state’s political map after the 2020 U.S. census. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the vote approves the plan although there were several objections from African-American lawmakers. 

Shortly before the state Senate adjourned its 2019 session, Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax spoke against political lynching lacking die process, and denied sexual assault allegations. 

A federal judge in Texas has declared that an all-male military draft is unconstitutional, ruling the time has passed for a debate on whether women belong in the military. The case was brought by the National Coalition For Men, a men’s rights group, and two men who argued an all-male draft was unfair.
