Westboro Baptist Church is on VCU campus today after controversy as to whether the church should be allowed on school campus. Westboro is infamous for its rallies against the LGBTQ community and abortion rights. Several counter-protests have been organized for the Westboro rally—including Lamb of God front man Randy Blythe’s “Kazoo and Champagne counter-party.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer have made it clear they will not approve the $8.6 billion dollars President Donald Trump has requested for a border wall. Pelosi and Schumer recently denied $5.7 billion in funding for the U.S.-Mexican border wall, despite the record 35-day government shutdown. According to Reuters, the request will be included in the president’s 2020 budget proposal.

The new 737 MAX 8 aircrafts are being landed in multiple countries after an Ethiopian Airlines flight of the same model crashed Sunday, killing all 157 people on board. The flight from Nairobi to Addis Ababa reported technical problems and asked for permission to turn back. According to CNN, it crashed shortly afterwards. As the crash investigation got underway, the Civil Aviation Administration of China ordered Monday that all domestic Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets be out of the air by 6 p.m. local time, due to its zero tolerance for safety hazards.
