Since the start of the volleyball season, VCU has defeated each opponent in the Atlantic 10 conference this year. With the home court advantage in Richmond, the Rams faced the Duquesne Dukes to secure a 3-1 victory over the dukes. After the match, Duquesne was placed ninth in the Atlantic conference. So far VCU is currently ranked second in the Atlantic 10 conference with a 7-7 record under 11-4 Dayton.

The first set of the game was filled with junior Jasmine Sneed delivering 6 kills. VCU made 18 kills out of 48 in the 1st set. Duquesne made 11 total kills out of 43 attempts. The first set in the game ended with a vicious kill by Tori Baldwin passed by Tyler Scroufe. VCU won the first set 25-22.

The second set began with back to back points from each side. VCU raked another 18 kills out of 48 attempts. Duquesne delivered 13 kills out of 30 attempts. Duquesne took the second set 26-24 to tie the score.

In the second half of the game, both teams came back on the court with the exact lineup. Duquesne led the entire third set of the game. The dukes delivered 14 kills out of 40 attempts. The Rams made 15 out of there 39 attempts. The Rams won the third set of the game 25-21.

The fourth set of the game was filled with aggressive kills from both teams going back to back with points. VCU recorded 10 kills out of 37 attempts. Duquesne recorded 12 kills out of 45 attempts. Despite recording the least number of kills VCU won the fourth set 25-23.

On the Rams side of the ball, the junior outside hitter Vicky Giommarini delivered 13 kills and, three blocks. Jasmine Sneed the Junior middle blocker raked 11 kills. Jasmine is now ranked 7th in the NCAA for most blocks per set. On the Duke’s side of the court true freshman middle hitter, Camryn Thomas recorded 12 kills. Freshman outside hitter Summer Slade delivered 10 kills for the night.

VCU Volleyball reigned their crown over another Atlantic 10 school. Next, on their schedule, the Rams travel to Missouri to face another Atlantic 10 contender Saint Louis. The match will be on Friday, September 28 at 7 P.M.
