"Bully pulpit" was a term coined by President Theodore Roosevelt regarding allotted time where he would open the executive office to criticism from other members of his administration. He opened the floor to receive honest feedback from others' perspective, whether it be positive or negative, to learn from his administration's past decisions while moving forward. This is what freedom of speech is about. As someone who is involved in local politics and activism, I love the concept of a bully pulpit. We must find our voices as both individuals and a community to create a more ideal world with our eyes looking to the future. The Bully Pulpit is a weekly radio show that aims to illuminate some of my favorite richmond bully pulpits: the city's punk and hardcore scenes.
