VCU Men’s Tennis started the 2019 season off by sweeping Drexel 6-0. Javier Armantegui and Philip Mobius lost the first doubles match 6-3. Inaki Rivero Crespo and Timo Zgraggen won the second doubles match 6-4. Arvid Noren and Inigo Torre Martin won the deciding third match 7-6 which put VCU up 1-0. Javier Amantegui won the first singles match 6-1, 6-2. Stefan Petrovic won the second match 6-3, 7-5. Inaki Rivero Crespo won his match 6-4, 6-2 which gave VCU a 4-0 lead. Arvid Noren won the fourth match 6-2, 6-4. Inigo Torre Martin won the last match of the day 7-5, 7-5 and VCU clinched the 6-0 sweep without dropping a set in the singles matches.

VCU Women’s Tennis had an amazing season opener easily defeating both Drexel and Campbell 6-0 for the back to back sweep. Marina Alcaide Bakkari and Sofia Sualehe won the first doubles match against Drexel 6-1. Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado and Kanako Yano lost their match 6-4. Anna Rassmussen and Melissa Ifidzhen won the last doubles match 7-5. Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado won the first singles match 6-1, 6-0. Kanako Yano won her match 6-0, 6-3. Anna Rassmussen won the third match 6-2, 6-3. Marina Alcaide Bakkari won 6-4, 6-3. Melisa Ifidzhen won the last match against Drexel 6-3, 4-6, 10-6.

Sofia Sualehe and Noumea Witmus won the first doubles match 6-0. Anna Rassmussen and Melissa Ifidzhen won the second match 6-1. Kanako Yano won the first singles match without losing a game. Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado won the second match 6-1, 6-2 and Anna Rassmussen won the third match 6-0, 6-1. Marina Alcaide Bakkari won her match 6-2, 6-4. Nouema Witmus Won 6-1, (4)6-7, 10-4 and Sofia Sualehe won the last match of the day 6-2, 7-6(4).
