We had an exciting Friday night volleyball game between VCU an La Salle. VCU is led by head coach Jody Rogers and La Salle by Caitlin Schweihofer. VCU headed into the game 6-7 while La Salle was 7-6. A very important game for both teams to get in a better position in their conference standings. The Rams were coming off a big-time win against JMU earlier in the week. La Salle looked to get back on track after a 0-3 lost to Ball State. The stakes were high for both teams entertaining this game.

La Salle started the game quick with a 4-0 lead in the first set until VCU finally got a point. This set remained tight throughout. It was very back and forth set with each team delivering their counters to the other. The set remained tied at 25 apiece. VCU finally took advantage of the leverage that they had at 29 to 28. And scored 30 to take the first set led.

VCU took the lead in the 2nd set and never looked back. Once they took the 10-9 lead they stretched the lead to as much as 5 points at one point in the set with a 16-11 lead. La Salle stayed within striking distance closing it to 3 but didn’t have enough to take the led at any point in this set once they lost it. VCU eventually took the second set 26-19 to go 2-0 in the match.

VCU started the 3rd set strong getting off to a 9-4 lead over La Salle. Showing up strong like how they did to end the 2nd set. Eventually looking the close the game out with a 21-18 lead. La Salle kept fighting and eventually took four straight points after being down 22-24 to win the third set in thrilling fashion to get their first set of the match.

VCU looked to recover from their fall at the end of the third set. Needed to win stop La Salle momentum and win this game with this set. After La Salle took the lead at 4-1 VCU came roaring back and took a 13-5 lead over La Salle. Hoping to finish this set after losing it the 3rd set. VCU finished it off at 25-20.
