Richmond, Va., – Washington Redskins head coach, Jay Gruden, spoke to the media after the Redskins had an off day on Sunday. Below are the four main takeaways from the press conference.

1. Gruden on TE Niles Paul Listed as the Starter on Depth Chart – “I think Niles Paul probably is more of a complete player when you’re talking about him as a blocker. He’s one of our strongest players. He’s self-made. Converting from a receiver to a tight end has been very impressive. That has been the biggest change. He’s a very complete player.”

2. Gruden on Kicker Kai Forbath’s struggles – “The strength of Kai’s game is his accuracy. We just got to get his confidence up and let him kick some today and hopefully he knocks them all through. It’s a little puzzling right now that he’s missing kicks that he normally makes.”

3. Accuracy of First Unofficial Depth Chart – “There wouldn’t be a depth chart until Miami [First game of Regular Season]. It’s silly to me. It can change next week or tomorrow for all I know. These guys are competing and nothing’s etched in stone. It’s important for these guys to continue to compete and let them know that we got our eyes on them and if they perform better than the guy in front of them, then they’ll play.”

4. Any Positives from Saturday’s Brawl with the Houston Texans – “I think it brought us together a little bit. When you see Redskin players helping Redskins, that’s a good thing. On gameday, you make a big deal about how you can’t come off the bench and you can’t enter fights on gameday. Its 15-yard penalties and possible suspensions, so we made a big deal about that. In that setting, there is no choice but for people to go and protect one another and it was good to see that.”
