News headlines for September 26

Republicans on the senate judiciary committee, which will vote on whether to allow Brett Kavanaugh’s bid to the supreme court to proceed, have hired a staff member to question Kavanaugh and his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford

Prosecutor Rachel Mitchell will conduct the questioning this Thursday after concerns about it being done by the all-male members of the GOP committee.

The VCU police department issued a public safety advisory after two assaults on campus last week that happened in the early hours of Friday and Saturday in the Fan District.

In each incident, a man ran up behind students and lifted their skirt or dress.

The police said they issued the advisory to help develop leads on a suspect, and to warn the public, as they believe one suspect was involved in both incidents.
