Every Monday we’ll be spotlighting one of our DJs so that you, the listeners, can get to know the people behind the voices! We don’t just have faces for radio!

This week we have Stefanos Psaltis-Ivaniš, who runs www.hairline.gov every Friday from 5 to 6 pm!

Stefanos is the current programming director here at the station. He’s a junior studying history and international studies who’s been here with us at the station since he first came to VCU.

Here’s a quick Q & A with this weeks DJ –

Q: Tell us about your show! What inspired the idea behind it?

A: I’ve always loved different genres from around the world so I wanted to host something that would put people on to genres that I don’t think get played enough.

Q: Who are your top five artists at the moment?

A:

In no particular order:

  1. Увула

  2. King Krule

  3. Standing on the Corner

  4. Molejo

  5. Emicida

Q: What kinds of music do you listen to that you don’t necessarily put on the show, if any?

A: I’ve been listening to a lot of baile funk, Yugoslav funk, and different Russian genres that I haven’t played yet.

Q: What drew you to WVCW?

A: I knew VCU had a radio station and so as soon as I got here it was the first thing I tried to get involved in.

Q: What’s been your favorite moment on air?

A: I’ve hosted a show in Portuguese, which was a lot of fun despite how poorly I spoke. I also just really enjoy whenever I’m able to have people on the show who are knowledgeable about whatever I’m playing.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

A: In the summers I volunteer at a chimpanzee haven in West Texas.

Stefanos has also put together a short playlist packed so we can get to know his eclectic music taste a bit better; check it out!

Thanks to Stefanos for giving us the chance to get to know him a bit better! Make sure to catch his show for more, and check in next week for our next Meet a DJ Monday!
