VCU Men’s Soccer vs. Saint Louis (9/24/16)

Records: VCU 2-5-1, Saint Louis 1-3-3

The VCU Rams and Saint Louis Billikens played to a 1-1 draw on September 24th after 120 minutes wasn’t enough time to decide a winner.

Saint Louis got on the board first in the 18th minute with a goal by Constantin Heider. After a pretty quiet first half and a slow start in the second half, VCU finally broke through.

Rafael Andrade Santos knocked in a free kick in the 73rd minute to tie the game at 1. That was also Santos’ third goal of the season.

Doing the overtime frames, VCU had multiple opportunities to win the game but couldn’t convert down the stretch to score a game-winning goal.

The Rams outshot the Billikens 23-8 in the game and had 10 corner kick opportunities. Goalkeeper Pierre Gardan also made two saves in the draw.

VCU will return to action this Tuesday, September 27 as they stay on the road and head to face Akron. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
