Georgia moves ahead with reopening, New aid package expected, Lysol says don’t drink disinfectant

- The company that makes Lysol is urging customers not to consume its cleaning products after President Trump suggested the possibility of injecting disinfectants to protect people from coronavirus.
- President Trump and public health officials argued on Thursday that higher temperatures and humidity, as well as direct exposure to sunlight, quickly kills the coronavirus, leading to hopes that the threat of the contagion could drastically recede during the summer months.
- Georgia state officials moved ahead today with plans to allow some nonessential businesses to reopen — such as gyms, hair salons, and bowling alleys — even as coronavirus deaths increase statewide.
- A preliminary study of 3,000 New Yorkers found that 13.9% tested positive for coronavirus antibodies, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said yesterday. And 21% of people tested in New York City had antibodies for the virus.
- The House approved a $480 billion package to deliver aid to small businesses and hospitals. It now goes to President Trump.

- Virginia Governor Ralph Northam is extending several orders he announced earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic, including postponements of elective surgeries and the closure of DMV offices. Northam announced in a statement on Thursday that the current ban on elective surgeries, which was set to expire on Friday, April 24, is being extended by one week to May 1.
