Every Monday we’ll be spotlighting one of our DJs so that you, the listeners, can get to know the people behind the voices! Along with many shows focusing on music, we also have a variety of talk shows!

This week we have Max Ames, who hosts The Gamer Hour, a pre-recorded show that airs every Thursday from 8 to 9 pm!

Max is the current production director here at the station. He’s a Junior majoring in Mass Communication. We couldn’t be more happy to have him on the team, making sweepers and producing an awesome show.

Here’s a quick Q&A with this weeks DJ –

Tell us about your show! What inspired the idea behind it?

The idea for the show came about when me and a few of my pals were fiddling with the idea of creating a podcast where we just talk about our interests, which cover a wide variety of topics. Mainly a show centered around video games and pop culture, The Gamer Hour Podcast has something for everyone.

Do you listen to any podcasts? If so, what’s your favorite right now?

Mickstape (RIP), Pardon my Take, and Reply All are some good ones, Mickstape will always be my favorite, simply due to its lack of structure.

What kinds of music do you listen to?

All sorts of music, right now I’ve been going through a huge nostalgia kick though. Just listening to stuff my parents used to play in the car when I was younger. White Stripes, John Denver, Steve Miller Band, a whole heap of stuff.

What drew you to WVCW?

I’d been looking to get my start in the realm of media production, then I heard about WVCW and immediately volunteered to work in the Production department. I’ve been here and loved it ever since!

What’s been your favorite moment on air?

I haven’t really been on air all that much with a podcast, so it’s kinda hard to think of a really good one.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

I’ve kissed the Stanley Cup (The real one not the fake one in the HOF in Toronto) ((ALSO,,,,, pre COVID))

Thanks Max! Good to here a little more about you and your show. Make sure to catch his show!

Check in next week for our next Meet A DJ Monday!
