VCU Field Hockey vs. UNC

Tar Heels too much for the Rams

By Daquan Lee:

In one of their toughest contest of the year the ladies of VCU had to face of against the Tarheels of UNC. The Rams were riding high coming a two game winning streak, all that came to a halt when faced against the fierce competitors of UNC. The match started out in the Rams favor with strong stick play and aggressiveness, even getting the first shot on goal. Things took a turn for the worst once UNC was able to draw first blood on the scoreboard after a penalty shot, and as the game went on UNC capitalized off every penalty shot with a score to take a 4-0 lead. The lady rams were not deterred as they still put up a strong effort to try to make a miraculous comeback unfortunately they were only able to score but once late in the second period. Even with the loss the Rams still look to be a formidable foe for future opponents as they have two A-10 opponents on the horizon they should take this opportunity to reflect and get back in the groove they had coming in
